#2Not sure if I’m cynical or what but just couldn’t muster the desire to finish the article. I agree the ability to write and communicate is important but also feel it’s oversold and trite.
I work with people who speak my native language as a second language - which is just to say life if generally more complicated than giving the advice of “focus on good communication”.

#3This feels like “in business” was omitted somewhere. If you look at things like physics, the quality of one’s ideas is paramount - nobody listens to a well-spoken, well-written crank. I know some of the bell labs people were outgoing and personable (Kernighan?) but were Ritchie or Thompson that way? And they did ok…
