Why does a Twitter alternative need blockchain?

To enable their fren2fren™ transactions of course. Only wish I was joking.

To be fair, making people pay money to hurl abuse at you with /trolltoll is an interesting twist on the usual system where you just block them. Not sure why that needs a blockchain though.
