Good news for patent litigators in Texas.

On a more serious note, purchases like this are hardly good news for anyone but new patent holders, i.e. "patent trolls". In this particular case, Catapult IP Innovations is a newly formed company, taking $650 million in debt in order to monetize BlackBerry's IP.
