The 5G Airline Controversy: What Is It About?

It seems that the heart of the controversy is a simple technical question that should be easy to answer: do radio altimeters pick up C band 5G signals?

If so, it appears they'd be operating far out of range and should get fixed, no?

Either way that question answers, the public fuss about this suggests strongly that there's some other agenda in play. Do the parties involved here fumble other co-ordination tasks so badly? they work together on other joint concerns all the time, successfully; what's the difference here that has them dropping the ball with such publicity and 3 Stooges grade buffoonery?
