I often go backtour skiing in the Alps (this season >1 time per week) and i have never seen a RECCO locator. I have seen it integrated in clothers but im my experience its mostly beacons/PIEPS systems.

Does anyone know how they compare? It seems to be that the RECCO system requires a large detector which is not compatible with touring.

In the US (lake tahoe area) I've seen some handheld units around the medical teams, but I've never seen them in use.
