Seriously, we don't need this advertising. People that use advertising services just want to be as good as their competitors, so for them it is a race to the bottom of intrusive tracking and targeting whatever advertisers deliver.
The ad industry needs a strong hit on their nuts because they intrusively collect private information and normalized surveillance on the web. This is an industry this is not helpful and it does not produce anything. It can be regulated and most of it can be removed. It probably wouldn't even be noticeable for overall consumption.

Some of them, but the GDPR covers a lot more than just the data collected for targeted advertising.
