That is such a cop out. We're not here on HN to be intellectually lazy and appeal to authority.

The US is not a warmonger - it is the defense umbrella for the free world.
However, random drone strikes and clumsy interventions in Islamic countries are counter to any benefits.
This is not well-understood, but the reason foreign powers are involved in Afghanistan is to fund a federal government - a capital and some services (roads, banking, mining, etc.) The MSM frames that as invasions, but Afghanis invite outsiders for that purpose, but they don't want a perceived occupation.

It was not even a year into Biden's presidency that he approved bombing of children and aid workers in Afghanistan, as the singular publicized military action post official withdrawal from the region, and not a single person has said anything beyond an extended "oops".... yet there is almost zero care in public discourse because he's on the "correct" team. The same team as Jacobin magazine.
