We have known that the ISS has been approaching end of life and attempts are being made to extend usability, but there is only a certain amount of effort that can be made before key components start to fail.

While the Russians (specifically Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Roscosmos) have been increasing the amount of negative press about the Russia/NASA/ESA/JAXA relationship, I view the ISS as an international success and would really like to see Russian involvement continue. It may not be a popular opininion, but I would also like to see international cooperation with China in space. China is clearly charting a course into space and I think it is a shame there isn't a way to coordinate the efforts of all the various space programs.

1) The ISS is a pile of junk with very few science papers in the past 20 years. (That's why NASA's PR sheets always co-mingle science and education program stats - because of the paucity of science results.)

2) The CCP is our mortal enemy. Whereas Russia had ideological differences with us, they were too poor to engage in behavior on the scale of the CCP against the US.

When you see photos of Chinese military parades, all those weapons are pointed at the US or our aircraft carriers.

How successful is the CCP? Not only have they bought Biden and his son, Biden's White House Chief of Staff is a CCP lobbyist. (The former US Transportation Secretary was either CCP or a CCP agent. She resigned before an investigation was started and the DoJ dropped it.)
