I was able to see that the key doesn't add the asterisk. But I can't reproduce this: "notepad!UpdateTitle can be triggered by keys that do not edit text, for example by pressing the the arrow keys." My arrow keys don't trigger the asterisk.

Just to add another data point: I _can_ reproduce the second part.

I can reproduce this behavior. Though I noticed that removing a newline with does cause the asterisk to appear.

Apparently also moving the mouse triggers the notepad!UpdateTitle function.

This would be avoided if Notepad was implemented in React Native for Windows.

Huh (confirmed), trying to imagine that code path.

Edit: Played around a bit, it's odd. For example then click on a different window (release focus) does trigger the update.
