It's utterly incomprehensible that a law like this can exist..

It seems so "common sense" that if you've got your stuff taken away by the police because they suspect it is involved in a crime, then you'll get said stuff back if you're not convicted of said crime, or if the stuff cannot be definitely proven as being involved in a crime.
