That's the wrong conclusion. Don't get your facts from spamarticles, instead check the authority:

The only contemporary browser that doesn't support WOFF2 is Opera Mini. Don't let Google gaslight you into using their CSS trick to embed fonts. Put the WOFF2 file on your site, link to it, and save the world another tracker.
