This is encouraging. Remdesivir is an antiviral. Why is it not given at the first sign of infection? People are dying not necessarily because of the virus but because of the damage it inflicts on a individual's organs. The earlier it's given the better the outcome. I would think.

Yes. There's five stages of covid19, you would want to get an antiviral sometime in stage 2 or 3, but before stage 4 (pneumonia and other Bad Organ Problems).
