Your phone company and credit card companies have had access to this data for longer than Google has.

IMO, the word "terrifying" is severely overused nowadays. Everything is "terrifying". But no, this is not that much worse than all the other data brokers that predate Google by decades in some cases. I'm not saying it's good in any way, but certainly not "terrifying".
