#3There is a disease in a lot of "cutting edge" software businesses, the idea that something on the decline or old hat is already obsolete and dead.
It's ok to build apps using PHP or Perl if that suits the particular app, even though such choices are unsexy. It's also ok to still target windows. It's a multi-billion user platform with multi-billion dollar revenues. Just because it's uncool doesn't mean you can't still make a quite good living off of it for the foreseeable future.

#4I've tried Allmyapps before, Ninite was better. Haven't test the new version though.
