#2So yeah, he's hoping for it.
What kind of jerk hopes for the failure of someone else?
You hope that they'll mend their ways, not that they'll fail.

#4Very sensationalist headline which the author apologizes for. WTF? Aside from 4Chan. why else would anyone wish for Gawker to fail?
Personally I wish web services to take security / privacy more seriously.
The article is shitty yellow journalism.

#5The title hopes for the fall of Gawker, then he immediately says he doesn't hope for it... Then he spends the rest of the article saying how horrible they are. So yeah, he's hoping for it. What kind of jerk hopes for the failure of someone else? You hope that they'll mend their ways, not that they'll fail.
That said there are other members of the Gawker family I enjoy from time to time and wish no ill-will - Lifehacker and io9 for example.
