The title hopes for the fall of Gawker, then he immediately says he doesn't hope for it... Then he spends the rest of the article saying how horrible they are.

Very sensationalist headline which the author apologizes for. WTF? Aside from 4Chan. why else would anyone wish for Gawker to fail?

Gawker wasn't cracked by 4Chan.

Personally I wish web services to take security / privacy more seriously.

The article is shitty yellow journalism.

Given the past behaviour of Gizmodo they don't evoke great sympathy. You don't need to be a jerk to wish failure upon an unethical company.

That said there are other members of the Gawker family I enjoy from time to time and wish no ill-will - Lifehacker and io9 for example.
