How do you overcome politics at work? Often times the opinion of the manager or other individuals supersedes logic.

For example, a developer asks the manager if they should remove a piece of code so it is not included in the current elevation but rather in the next one. Another developer says they already removed the code in question the prior day at the direction of the tech lead. Instead of the manager telling the developer to update their local and read comments, the manager calls out the other developer for not sending an email to all 50 developers about the change. If it is best practice to update your local, and sending an email to 50 individuals for every change is inefficient and ineffective, then why is one asked to send the email? How can one make their case?

My organization says they promote diversity of thought. How is that possible? If an individual holds an opinion contrary to the manager, wouldn't the manager feel that the individual's position is incorrect? After all, a person only holds their position because they assume it is correct, assuming they adhere to western ideology.

If one is different, how can one defend their position against the cronyism?
