I now have two small kids and on a days when I don't get too many new signups/sales I start to worry about the future, and I start to wonder if it's maybe worth for me to try to get a job at a company like Apple or Google or something like that, just to add it to my resume, because right now I don't have much to show in it since I've been mostly working on my own stuff which was making me profit and also some consulting work for small clients.
I have couple questions to those who work/worked at a big 5 company. Did you feel financial security for your future? Did you still want to quit and run your own company? Also I wonder if hiring process in this type of company even looks at wether you had a profitable business or not? I've never been in interviews in big companies (any companies actually in the last 10 years or so) so I don't even know what position should I look for, senior product designer? Developer? Or maybe a manager or a team lead? Or maybe should I focus on my software instead? The main issue is that I worry that if my company fails in the next 5-10 years - I won't have much to show on my resume to get a good job offer. I would appreciate any input.
