#2If users who discovered Pingdom because it was free in one way or another were to all migrate their subscriptions by then, Pingdom might realize that this isn't such a great idea.

Too bad, so sad. Pingdom likely finally figured that most freeloaders won't ever convert and have no other positive impact on their top or bottom line. It was a great marketing idea at the time when it was OK to burn money to get non-paying "customers". Eyeballs, eh?
Never attempted to use them as I knew it wasn't sustainable.
