While the same isn't true for most of the other large/powerful countries, it is a fact that even the free press in these countries take quite an alarmist view over the growing influence of Tea Party thinkers in the US.

Is that an unrealistic view? While the economies in Asia and Europe are recovering – quite a few of them rapidly – the US seem to be stuck. They might even face another recession. If you think that the Tea Party Movement won’t solve the problems but only further polarize the political landscape and make sensible solutions hard the fear of a USA unable to solve its problems doesn’t seem that hard to imagine.
