#3I wonder if this could be associated with the fall of long-term emoloynent rewards, willingness to train on the behalf of employers, and the decrease of benefits like pensions. Such systematic changes tend to reward behavior that only benefits the self.

#5Perhaps the problem is more like the inability to stop bifurcating everything into opposite which the article itself both alludes to and practices. Whoops! I think I did it, too.

I disagree. Though I think righteous indignation is a real problem, it's also often used as a label that can be applied to any negative response to one's own opinions - to paint any negativity at all as automatically unreasonable and unworthy of any credence. I think the trend of antagonistic-first approaches to other people is a much more worrying problem, and that highly antagonistic people are more likely to reach prematurely for the accusation of "righteous indignation" (not accusing you of that).
