#2I believe younger people tend to be on the extremes either on the left or right. With age and experience they are ready to adjust, but still hold the same view. This is a broad generalization of course and take it with a pinch of salt.

I think there is a shift in economic power today with the skills gap due to technology. Older folks are priced out of the labor market. While those under 18 are afforded opportunities never seen before.
A great cult classic is Wild In the Streets from 1968. The voting age is lowered to fourteen, a rock star is elected president, and everyone over 30 is retired to a farm where they are given large doses of LSD!

Looking at US politics, it is pretty hard to believe that young people are the extreme ones.

But the older people own property - which has exploded in value and is now out of reach of many younger people.
Doesn't matter how much you can earn if you have to spend most of it in rent.
