To me I'm wondering why it's here just because it's off-topic. If it were about a Christian programmer, or maybe about being a Christian in Silicon Valley, and it got flagged, then I would agree with you. I guess cultural issues do get discussed on here, but it depends on whether there's an angle that's of interest here.

EDIT: Then again, that would only account for downvoting. You're right, I don't know why it would get _flagged_. But I'd think that's based on user reports, not yc policy.

It's "mainstream" news. From the guidelines: If they'd cover it on TV news, it's probably off-topic.
