I fixed all the mistakes and offered my services as a way to mend the damage. I am responding to every comment. I'm learning this community. I am helping people elsewhere — why not here? :)

A good way to learn how to interact on HN is to participate as a member before using it for promotion. So far you haven't taken the time to do that, and it can rub people the wrong way, particularly as you're promoting yourself as a branding strategist. One would hope a branding strategist would understand the importance of getting to know the community it wants to interact so as to not make mistakes when it wants to…

I beg to differ :) About the finesse, I mean. I posted a link, and it brought massive traffic and subscriptions to my blog — no finesse was needed. Then I asked my colleague to post another link. My fault is I did not warn him about the community rules regarding titles. But I wrote the admins and fixed it as soon as I became aware of this.
