Looks like clickbait to me: - title contains a hyperbolic, metaphorical use of a "destruction" word ("destroys", "decimates", etc) - title contains zero descriptive information - title namedrops hot tech companies

"destroys" suggests Snapchat has already died. All that happened is a new developer platform was announced for Facebook. This article is pretty bad.

As much as Zuckerberg apparently wants Facebook to be Snapchat, I've seen very little uptake on their new "Stories" feature.

They added a bar across the top of the Facebook app and for the first week or two it sat completely unused (except for Facebook's own story and the new post button). Someone must have noticed how empty that white bar looked, so now it's been filled in with grayed-out profile pictures of friends who have never used the feature, and when you tap them it says "____ hasn't added to their story recently." That's an awfully polite way of saying "____ has literally never posted a story."

In the three weeks since it launched, I've seen one story posted. Frankly, I like Snapchat because it dosen't have a whole social network and filter-bubbled garbage reel bolted onto it. It's an app I open when I get messages or want to see what friends are actually up to.

Maybe FB isn't trying to eat Snapchat as much as trying to bring Snapchat's features to older markets of people who can't easily sort though Snap's inscrutable interface? If they're aiming to actually take back the messaging/stories space for younger users, I'm not optimistic for them.

Anyone having a different experience?

I've never used Snapchat but I can tell you that I hate the wasted space in the new Facebook app that is reserved for Stories. Since launch, I've also seen only one story posted. And out of principle (for how stupid it looks) I didn't even open it.
