setting up VPNs doesn't scale. the entire internet can't be behind VPNS not to mention people with poor internet will not be able to use a VPN effectively

I don't think the parent was trying to make or ask whether VPNs scale when he/she asked which VPNs are good.

#6Until a better solution is found, I think the way the recent IOT botnet stuff + this ISP privacy deregulation is portrayed in the media opens the opportunity for a startup that sells a secure, smart home router + VPN subscription plan.

VPN tech is cheaper and more likely to succeed.
