Obama never banned people with legal, existing visas and permanent residents from entering the country.

Obama's order was to withdraw the visa waiver program for those 7 countries. Citizens of those countries could still apply for a visa and then enter the US. Trump's order banned legal and vetted immigrants, a ban which initially included even lawful permanent residents. The two aren't even remotely comparable.

In 2011 Obama banned Iraqi refugees for six months. In 2016, the department of homeland security listed the additional countries as countries of concern.
"After careful consideration, and in consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security has determined that Libya, Somalia, and Yemen be included as countries of concern, specifically for individuals who have traveled to these countries since March 1, 2011."

Obama has dropped more than 100,000 bombs across the middle east, many countries are going to be of concern now. People tend to not like it too much when you bomb them.
