I find this thread amusing. My M3 MacBook Pro just works. My family's iPhone 15s just work. My iPad Mini 6 just works. My wife's 3 year old iPad just works. Her 3 year old MacBook Air just works. My kids 3 year old M1 MacBook just works. I am an old man. My MCSE was on NT 3.51. I wrote my first code in 6502 ML. The first production network I handled used SNA. The level of Apple kit just working is a so far beyond anything I have experienced in 30+ years of being in tech.

The fix is to disable Glass. In a terminal: defaults write -g com.apple.SwiftUI.DisableSolarium -bool YES This gets rid of the slow animations, inconsistent window cornering, and other annoyances. Then (so menus aren't transparent and unreadable): System Settings > Accessibility > Display > Reduce Transparency If you do those two things your machine should look and feel normal again. I really don't like what it does to certain transparent drop downs for certain apps as well as the control center.
But It does seem nice to do it on a per app basis (ie "defaults write com.apple.finder com.apple.SwiftUI.DisableSolarium -bool YES")

#984One that’s be a nice quality of life improvement in MacBook(Air/Pro) is built-in 5G connectivity. I’d spring for that convenience not needing to connect to a hotspot draining precious battery on my phone. I thought we were closer given Apple started making their own modems, but it is still a miss.
They want you to buy the Apple phone and pair it, so they sell more
You can pair an Android phone with a Mac. Why do they need an Apple phone?

There have been rumours of an upcoming entry-level MacBook with M1-class performance that wouldn't have that problem.
Personally, I'm looking forward to M1 MacBook Pros dropping in price so I could nab one for cheap for running Asahi Linux.

So, I still think the experience is generally better and more integrated than when I was on an Android device. I just find they're generally not really paying attention to user details the way they have in the past.
The experience may be better now than when you were on Android, but it's not better than Android now. I switched from Android to iOS around a year ago, I lasted three months before I went back to Android.
There were many papercuts, but the keyboard being a hundred times worse than Android is what aggravated me every time I had to use the phone, and the straw that broke the camel's back.

Nope. I know a couple were on macrumors forums. And to be clear, there were suspicions of Apple slowing down devices to get you to upgrade far before Batterygate. It used to be painfully obvious, but with apple's protections it wasn't knowable.

LG Gram SuperSlim. Very light (900grams). I once went hiking with it and forgot the laptop was still in the bag. But its really only capable of high performance in short bursts because of the extremely small thermal mass.
