You're only getting one side of the story, here. I suspect the user called "anal_reactor" who is a fan of "edgy humor" and thinks "most people have very little depth" miiight have a hard time with in-person socialization.

Yea, but that's just a straw man argument mixed with a little No-True Scotsman. How do you know those people aren't just learning how to use AI and will change over time to be early adopters adapt and using the tool to get work done faster.

If you go back to the article being discussed, the core issue is people not even reading the output. You can't learn from blind copy pasting.

I'm aware of the article. My point is it may be catching a slice of the person's full journey with AI. When I started using it, I blind copied and pasted all the time. Heck, I had a job interview that allowed me to use AI to build an app and I just flat prompted "build out this" and never refined. If you judged me only from that period, you'd miss out that now I am able to iterate, refine, to build a robust program and can spin off tasks with the knowledge that I need to understand what I'm letting it implement before just accepting it.

Yes, I do have a hard time with in-person socialization, but that only reinforces the point that at least from my perspective, people suck.

Imagine that you move to a foreign country. At work you get to know Bob and Bob tells you that he likes traveling. Next week you ask Bob if he's going on holiday somewhere, and the week after you get a call from HR because asking people for their holiday plans is considered extremely rude and this is the final warning before they fire you. Okay. You try to ask around if someone is interested in sports or anything, and turns out, watching paint dry is people's favorite social activity. People gather, and just stare at the wall. They eat some snack that smells like shit and discuss how fast different types of paint dry under different conditions - apparently there is huge disagreement whether blue or pink paint dries faster to the point that they organize official paint drying tournaments. One day you meet Alice. You're doing your best to be nice and make a friend. You suggest grabbing a coffee together. She replies "yes, definitely, what about Wednesday 3AM in front of the homeless shelter?". You can't tell if she's for real or just fucking with you, so you do show up there. Strangely, so does she, but she comes at 4AM. Turns out, it was faux-pass on your side to show up on time, which is why there won't be a second date.

Whenever you try to vent how you don't fit into the culture people point out that it's your fault you're the weirdo. Also, the incident with Bob will follow you for the next five years.

When I first heard of Starlink and the possibility to have internet everywhere, I was a little sad inside. It is now impossible to escape in this world, even in the most remote mountains on earth. People always look at me sideways when I say this, but I truly think the power/internet needs shutoff for 6 months to a year every so often to give us a little bit of a reset.

Don't fight with AI. People who reported increased throughput don't verify AI output. Programs which are simply AI wrappers don't verify the output. If a serious programmer starts to design an algorithm that verifies AI output, the progress starts to slow down because you are doing something not needed if you don't use AI.

If the only thing people can do is regurgitate an AI agent than what good are they?

I don’t see an issue with quoting an AI and citing it. Are you defending the parent post’s position of rewriting the AI answer to hide the fact that you used AI to find the solution?

I’m not condoning simply taking the first answer that AI spits back at you and regurgitating that as a response. But if the answer is correct then there’s no need to rewrite it. I just feel that rewriting the answer is trying to hide the fact that you had to use AI to help you find the solution, which to me, is dishonest.

The fact that people vet the AI answer before responding is the value added not the process of rewriting the response to protect frail egos.
