24 hours is a bit generous, but after wavering on upgrading from intel for ages, I got the M4 Pro 16", and it is wildly better in every dimension as long as you don't need native x86. I do usually still run battery saver mode though and rarely notice a difference between that and full power in my regular workloads. Games run fine, everything is juicy, 48gb of ram turned out to be the right choice.

What cleaning agent do you use? A dry cloth will not remove finger grease.

isopropyl alcohol, 70%, as a first pass, soapy water after that. I might skip the isopropyl if things aren't too bad. This is per apple's own recommendations.

It seems like you are now trying to walk back your own statement, and I find that facetious. There is no other way to read your original comment: you were saying that someone might choose a Mac over a PC because they prioritize screen brightness, more than 64GB of memory, or SSD over 2TB.

I responded to that with ample evidence that PCs deliver all of that and more.

Your response is to dismiss and insult my comment as being lengthy musings of a crazy person. You’re not reading “all that” just like Fox News isn’t going to put a socialist on the air without talking over them.

Dismissal is the stage you get to when logic and reasoning can’t sufficiently defend your point.

This is what Mac zealots do: they put blindfolds on and pretend like Mac hardware is above and beyond the laws of physics and PC laptops can’t possibly satisfy the same priorities that Macs do. Customer-hostile design is just a manifestation of consumer priority.

And this is what people with some kind of irrational obsession with hating Apple do: they work themselves up into some kind of fever pitch because other people have different priorities and choose a different computer.

Enjoy your HP. Or your Lenovo. It's a bit hard to keep up with which one it is you want.

Privacy is definitely not a cern for the layman, but it is for lots of people, especially pro users. I also haven’t made a google search in years. I also haven’t seen any improvements in the frontier models in years, and I’m anxiously awaiting local models to catch up.

Says your rose-tinted marketing-loving glasses. Unified memory only means you lose some to graphics. Only your GPU wins this bargain, not your usual workloads.

Other workloads win because on Apple Silicon the GPU memoy remains accessible by the CPU so there only needs to be one copy of computed resources for the GPU to use.

The point isn’t the port but that they don’t come with USB PD charger in the Windows world.

But this is really because of EU regulations anyway. It comes with a charger in the US.

The M5 generation uses three different CPU core designs instead of two.

Though not on one SOC.

No, they didn’t just change the names. The created a whole new core that scales between efficiency and performance, which can run in a lower power mode comparable to the efficiency cores and in a higher power mode partway to the super (was called performance) core’s performance and named it a performance core.
