It matters when the phone is supposed to last more than two years. Poor battery life is a symptom of a slow CPU, things that don't require full performance on a snapdragon 8 elite take double the time in a pixel while needing full turbo performance. 5000mah is the standard battery size for XL phones. Still the pixels battery falls apart immediately on cellular, while heating up like crazy. Have you used your phone for navigation while on cellular? My pixel would be dead in two hours with this. Even just normal browsing on cellular data would get it to heat up and kill the battery life.

I've got a 7a International version and 5G works in my unsupported country (New Zealand). Not sure what other unique features don't work. However it is nuts how they just can't be bothered supporting so many countries.

It's disabled geographically, not based on band compatibility or carrier or anything. Not sure about New Zealand because I heard it's not consistent.

It'd be 5G, VoLTE/Wifi, VPN, call screening, OTP autodelete, crash detection.

In my case: I don’t have that many TODOs. For instance, I clean home twice per week, on Mondays and Thursdays. Don’t need to write it down anywhere. I have perhaps 2 or 3 doctor appointments per year (and they are usually within a few weeks in advance, so easy to remember). I don’t have kids (this one could be the game changer, I admit).

Work-wise: sure, I have everything in the work calendar. But i have separate laptops for work and personal life. I never mix them.

If we want to go out for dinner, we just go. Cinema? We just go as well. No appointments. I do exercise at home. We usually travel around 2 times per year (again, not easy to miss)

Honestly, no. It enhances it. It's just a tool. Like do you bring a flashlight camping?

Software assistants summarising all my communications is intrusive, regardless of where the model runs.

You're carrying an always on mic wired up to a closed source system with you everywhere you go already. It was already possible to stream or record everything anyway.

As a former Pixel and current Samsung user, I can relate to almost everything on this list except for the Camera app. What is it that you prefer about the Samsung iteration? I found my preference to be for the Pixel version.

As a Pixel / Galaxy / OnePlus user... My app and photo quality preference are OnePlus > Pixel > > > ... > Samsung. shrug Really it could be a toss up between OnePlus and Google depending on generation. My partner's Pixel 7 takes nearly as nice photos as my OnePlus 12. My Galaxy photos were... very watercolor paint. I could not stand them.

App wise what do you prefer on OnePlus? I switched from Samsung to a 13r and miss the moveable button. The 2x zoom camera's color balance is also wildly different from the main camera's, would've much preferred a macro camera like on the Samsung

What do you like about the AI integration? I'm considering leaving iPhone just to have basically native chatGPT integration, assuming gemini works that way, and assuming it can read and write to my calendar and access other personal data.

It doesnt let you change to chatgpt, thats my biggest issue with the Gemini integration.

It does not, actually. Signal only gets the contact number if you click on the button.

In my case I allowed Signal to access my contacts and these options only appear for people who use it, don't know what happens if you deny the access.
