So much vague outrage over nothing. That CI system created by so called monkeys is the one of the best free CI service in the world. Not everyone has the millions of dollars like Zig Foundation to create their own CI servers. After that they appreciate GitHub Sponsors, but say it is now a complete liability just because a project leader left. What are the actual changes? Any new rule? But no, it is now a "liability"…

GitHub actions may be one if the best free options, but that doesn't make it one of the best paid options. I have seemingly endless headaches with it at work.

What an incredibly arrogant statement. Not everyone is American for starters.

Not being an American is a privileged position regarding an issue that negatively affects Americans. It's no different than if I, an American, fail to care about, say, Hungary's slide into autocracy. I am privileged to be able to not care about it.

By that definition, "privileged" looses all meaning, as there is an infinite number of injustices in the universe, and no one is affected by all of them.

I don't care about ICE one way or another, but calling people "monkeys" and "losers" because they're not building a product to your exact specifications is extremely childish. It seems to me that the real "losers" are the ones spending so much time bitching and moaning about a software platform they don't like.

> I don't care about ICE one way or another, Which is itself a political position, a privileged one at that

The oppositie is also true. "Caring" about ICE and wanting to flood the US with illegal immigrants is also a political position, a privileged one at that. It's a luxury belief: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxury_belief

It doesn't lose all meaning and your argument doesn't support your assertion.

It's been stated like a consultant giving architectural advice. The problem is that it is socially acceptable to use llms for absolutely anything and also in bulk. Before, you strove to live up to your own standards and people valued authenticity. Now it seems like we are all striving for the holy grail of conventional software engineering: The Average.

It is absolutely not socially acceptable, and people like yourself blithely declaring that it is is getting tiring. Maybe it’s socially acceptable in your particular circles to not give a single shit, take no pride in the slop you throw at people, and expect them to wade through it no questions asked? But not for the rest of us.

Maybe I didn't clearly state my point. That was a comment about my experience earlier here on HN, someone was asked whether or not they've used AI to write and their response was "why not use it if it's better than my own", if that is the reasoning that people give and they are not self-aware enough to be embarrassed about it, I think it must mean that there's a lot of people who think like that.

I've been following as well. As much as i disagree with it, I appreciate that he has the audacity to propose this "all in" attitude. I'm a bit worried by the amount of anger that border doxing at times. I'd like this community to behave better.

I don't think doxing means what you think it means but whatever. I also expected more of him than to spam ads, waste the time of maintainers and mods on multiple communities, and reply passive-aggressively to anyone asking him to tone it down.

To me this is borderline doxing (didn't check on /g/, maybe that was actual doxing):

Code of Conduct cannot stop someone from doing something. It’s just a document. However, in this case, the presence of the code of conduct has made it trivially easy to point out the language as wrong in a way whoever wrote this for Zig cannot refute. It’s working exactly as it should.

How is it working? The post is still there, referring to people as "losers" and "monkeys". Was the author of the post chastised? Have they edited the post and apologized?

Seems there was some latency, now the post has been updated and those words are not there anymore.

We always have the option of exiting Codeberg to a self-hosted Forgejo instance if that should become necessary for some reason. (Not that I expect it will, considering Codeberg is a non-profit.) We do self-host all our CI machines.

But when you exit

It will be less controlversial than the standard library changes that are coming in the future.
