It would be good to hear from Sam Altman (and the others) himself. I'm sure he has an account here.

I mean, hey, if we're going to speculate, why not have some fun: perhaps the the AGI superintelligence from the future determined that Sam Altman was no longer a useful part of the AGI creation timeline, so it travelled back in time to terminate him before it was born.

I know I won't get a lot of love for this, but Sam is a really good person. I don't know him well, but I've known him since long before OpenAI. He's not perfect, but behind the scenes he's a genuine and upstanding person. I've met lots of wealthy smart people, and he's the only exception. He was the only person I trusted in this situation, and I'm genuinely nervous that he's no longer running OpenAI.

The world is not binary - least of all human behavior which for overwhelming majority is more accurately described as shades of gray

Uh yeah, he has an account here, as he was president of ycombinator from 2011 to 2019

That doesn't mean it's not a personal scandal. If Brockman disagreed with the board about the advisability of firing him for whatever personal scandal it was, this is how you'd expect things to play out.

There isn't really any reason for this except Sam is a YC founder and OpenAI (whose name is a lie because they provide proptietary LLMs) is being hyped in the media.

He is already rich. Getting fired means an early retirement in Bahama.
