Check out this dude: https://github.com/GhostKellz?tab=repositories He's got like 50 repos with vibe-coded, non-working Zig and Rust projects. And he clearly manages to confuse people with it: https://github.com/GhostKellz/zquic/issues/2

#902> As a bonus, we look forward to fewer violations (exhibit A, B, C) of our strict no LLM / no AI policy, which I believe are at least in part due to GitHub aggressively pushing the “file an issue with Copilot” feature in everyone’s face. Also, the big part of that issue is people are incentivized to make their GitHub profile look good to have a higher chance of getting hired. Any non-mainstream platform is not as com…
Perhaps we need an app to keep track of bad job candidates. We can gossip about them and such. I mean, we did that for an entire gender (sex?), let's go make a unicorn.

I’m pretty sure the USSR, Cuba, and the like never succeeded doing this sort of thing, but maybe if we hit ourselves in the head with the same hammer (and sickle) just one more time it will work?
The capitalist west seems fully happy buying slop and crap as long as it is cheap... Nearly no one demands quality anymore.
If it's all crap anyway, why pay more?

> There is a purity spiral that organizations can enter when they start doing this You are the one summoning that spiral by making a cheap gotcha wrt codeberg using Paypal. The project apparently could and did move because the swith from github to codeberg wasn't that big of an impact, and because, while the new forge is not perfect, they feel the association is less severe. There is no "purity spiral" in that, just…
As I was reading your reply I was half convinced that it was not purity spiral but by the end, even you admit it’s an ethics thing so yeah it is pretty much purity spiral in place. Next they will leave the USA so that they won’t be associated with Trump.

Read this entire thread. There are over two dozen links with Andrew's own words and bullying behavior provided by other commenters. This is only the billionth time he's said something like this. He's apologized for it in the past and said he'd change, but it clearly didn't stick. He's a jerk and a bully like Linus. This is the guy setting culture at Zig, which is undoubtedly why five people responded to me in this th…
and this vision is enough to excuse targetting a person as “rotten”. in all your professed moral acuity. others are shaming. many could, if not agree, at least understand that. you’re calling “rotten”. wtf man.

This implies Zig culture is being poisoned by Andrew.
He's the leader, and everyone looks to him. If he behaves like an asshole, and few people call him out or hold him accountable, everyone else thinks that's okay. You then see other members of the community behaving in a similar manner.
Toxic culture breeds toxic behavior and people.
You don't see other open source communities doing this.
Like I said, "rotten from the head". The idiom is appropriate.

wow, and you’re still defending yourself with a lecture on how your words should be interpreted in such good faith. in this situation. and, to add to that, comparing to two dictators who separate children from their parents and close people in labour camps. keep believing you fit the moral standard and insight to emotional nuance to impart your judgments onto others.
He's a bully and you're an enabler of that bullying by defending this behavior.

It's been stated like a consultant giving architectural advice. The problem is that it is socially acceptable to use llms for absolutely anything and also in bulk. Before, you strove to live up to your own standards and people valued authenticity. Now it seems like we are all striving for the holy grail of conventional software engineering: The Average.

This thread contains ample evidence of his habitual behavior and if you lack the empathy to understand, that's on you. He's a bully and you're an enabler of that bullying by defending this behavior.

I would like to know the reasoning why Zig chose Codeberg instead of self-hosting something like gitea or forgejo. Seems to be a safer bet to limit hosting related weaknesses and unknowns, considering move from github being quite disruptive already.
We always have the option of exiting Codeberg to a self-hosted Forgejo instance if that should become necessary for some reason. (Not that I expect it will, considering Codeberg is a non-profit.) We do self-host all our CI machines.
