No reason at all to believe those same people will feel the same in a decade, or even still live in Texas.

The state is politically shifting blue. Some may head to redder pastures. Climate change could make it intolerable to the masses.

If recent history was an iron clad predictor of the future we’d all be focused on Brexit, and going on about those royals

10 Billion is quite a lot. And government contract is very stable income. But I got your point on politics, that is something pretty unpredictable.

It is for sure a lot. AWS wants it. Everyone wants it.

But, it is a maximum of $10Billion ...over 10 years. Th at is the key thing to focus on. I'm sure both companies have private sector customers right now that pay a quarter to half-billion a year right now.

I think the greater damage is optics vs financial..and optics can cost a lot.

Let's say AWS makes $30-Billion this year. So, losing $1-billion this year is 3.33%? (Though I'm sure the contract starts not this year?)...How much will AWS be making in 10 years?

I don't trust or rely on any infrastructure that largely uses microsoft products...I'm sure there's some minor stuff hidden away here and there within systems. MSFT has a software philosophy, which is reciprocated in their culture, that can only be described as byzantine and unpredictable. They are basically 00's Oracle at this point.

What was Bezos motive for purchasing the Washington Post? It certainly wasn't financial.

Haven't followed Bezos too closely, but, never thought of him to be a political person or saw anything where he made political comments.

Buying the Washington Post certainly forced the world around him to see him as political...even if he considers himself not.

About 65% of all porn video streaming is on Azure media services. Robust as hell. So should be easy to support all those drone army feeds.

Why is that weird?

It was kinda a whole todo the last time some people tried to secede from the Union. It's weird to think it's a good idea to try again.

Ya I don't see them moving their entire infrastructure out of Azure in 10 years unless they use kubernetes/other extremely portable software for nearly everything.

Azure is a little under 1/2 the size of AWS in terms of revenue, and growing a little faster.

Azure revenue includes O365 revenue though.
