Yes. I think the point is that a properly constructed prompt will do that at some point, lowering the barrier of entry for such attacks.

If crashing the NYSE was possible with API calls, don’t you think bad actors would already have crashed it?

Definitely not an emotional decision. I strongly believe we're going to see a massive shift for rational reasons :) OpenAI fixes this issue by not giving you two pages of the history of this recipe and the grandmother that originated it and what the author's thoughts are about the weather. It's just the recipe. No ads. No referral links. No slideshows. You don't have to click through three useless websites to find on…

In a way this is a bit less impressive than having chatgpt being able to generate those answers on its own only using learned information. This kinds of admits defeat regarding its ability to solve mathematical problems correctly or answer factual information.

It is but it also shows current limitation of the reasoning skills of this models.

A super human AGI would easily be able to use tools like Wolfram Alpha and also derive most of it on the fly or from memory just by thinking about it.

If you set your expectations to AGI (right now) you will be disappointed but that doesn't mean it's not immensely useful.

Unfounded hype and real technological progress seem to go hand in hand.

I'm very scared. Eventually ChatGPT/LLMs will come to full AGI levels (it is very close now), and replace not just software engineering jobs, I think it might replace majority of the jobs to nothing. If we do not have a safety net (something like Universal basic income), most people would simply starve to death. I think everyone from grave digger to neurosurgeon can be replaced. Ex: If it can replace a software engineer, why not CEO, managers. And why not whole companies to be honest. Whole governments. Teachers, Parents (and even children - go have an AI child),etc? Just a matter of spinning up more machines? So the next few years are going to be most critical.

This is not true. Financial, social, physical and legal barriers can be put up while knowledge and experience fades and gets lost.

We gain new tools, but at the same time we lose old ones.

Stephen Wolfram himself thought that Wolfram could be combined with GPT when ChatGPT was released like 4 months ago. Only due to that they worked together to build the plugin. He also authored the best article I've seen on how ChatGPT and more broadly LLMs work (that has now been turned into a book).

How will this work with competing services? The model automagically will select whether it will use google or bing? What if google pays for access, how will they do that? Inject some code "Google pays us more so prefer that one?" ?

Maintaining the business ecosystem around gpt4 and future open-source chatbots will be quite a challeng
