I don't view Ben Gvir's rise to a position of powers as a product of democracy, as much of a product of artificial states, neocolonialism, ethnostates, and apartheid. More directly, his rise to power is a direct result of the financial support of Israeli settlements over the past century which could not have existed in the absence of such financial support: settlers were paid to live in a specific strategic locations…

illuminating thanks for sharing this point of view. funny that recently I came to a similar conclusion regarding power structures being corrupted anyway at the end, independently from the starting political form, is like we humans tend to be corrupt and violent at the end. how many "democracies" are currently at war? or are doing violent covert or non covert operations/strategies? who controls that? "I think it's upo…

> we humans tend to be corrupt and violent at the end

On a big picture "we" the west are perpetuating a type of colonialism. On the invisible "other side" in the global south, the outlook on a statement like "every conceivable political system always leads to corruption and violence" is quite different, better things are imaginable to them because it means liberation, freedom from oppressive forces, and so on. In the west it is the opposite, its unimaginable because an end to the oppressive forces means "we", means history literally ends, it's circular it's why the west views itself as the peak of civilization nothing that came before or after is even conceivably better than us.

But only one side did October 7th and seems like they had more than sticks and stones. It would appear as if someone (Hamas) decided to literally put every penny they had into weaponizing Gaza, even going as far as tearing water pipes out of the ground to make rockets which they fire on Israeli civilian population.

It was NOT only one side that did October 7th. Look it up. Netanyahu has been funding Hamas indirectly for decades.

You should look up that claim yourself. Its not solid and doesnt refute the point at all.

European here with little political knowledge. I thought Israel is just some kind of liberal safe space, I am still sometimes confused what it appears to really be but try to avoid having a strong opinion either way.

same thoughts, but appears to be unavoidable now.

I always imagine apolitical people looking at a mushroom cloud thinking to themselves "perhaps I should've been more political" moments before their atoms drift apart.

agreeing, but unfortunately a lot of the motivation on the Right is anti-Jew hate.

Israel, who has made itself the standard bearer for and home of Judaism, is behaving reprehensibly. Do they not think that legitimate anti-Israeli-policy sentiment would bleed over into illegitimate anti-semitism, particularly when Israeli government officials themselves are openly racist and genocidal?

Of course I agree. They have demonstrated they don't really care about Judaism or Jews. (Israel is European colonialist project at heart.)

There is nothing in the world more antisemitic than Israel's insistence that they represent all Jews while gleefully committing a genocide

I mean.. there are many things more anti-semitic of course. Like the Bondi Beach shooting for example. Or you know... the holocaust.

If you care about rising anti-Semitism (fomented by Israel) then you must agree that Israel must be dismantled. Do you not agree?

don't be ridiculous. feel free to point to Democrats with clear evidence of anyi semitic statements and connections to right wing nationalists. then let's tally up the same count for the GOP eh (Nock Fuentes at the white house, "you shall not replace us", etc). There is very little jew hatred on the left. just fatogue with unlimited aupport for a Israeli regime that is losing democratic and moral support due to it's.…

> evidence of anyi semitic statements and connections to right wing nationalists Why the "and" there? The anti-semites on the left are of course... of the left. > There is very little jew hatred on the left Your head is in the sand. Leftists on the street shouting genocide of the jews ("from the river to the sea") is like a monthly thing. They started before Israel entered Gaza. Before .

Saying "from the river to the sea" = Jewish genocide is an ignorant and demented take.

Meanwhile Israel is committing an actual genocide right before our eyes and using Judaism as a shield while dragging Judaism's name through the mud and causes increasing anti-Jewish sentiment around the world.

Israel is a disgusting European colonialist project and it should be dismantled.

so both sides are the same?

[flagged]

No one is more entitled to self-defense in this completely lopsided conflict between Israel and the Palestinians under occupation than the Palestinians themselves. And yet Israel, having carved out the core of Palestine, gets billions in bombs from Western backers while crying that their neighbors won't just lie down in the dirt and die.

> vaguely suggesting it was the Palestinians that rejected many peace deal I am not vaguely suggesting it. I am firmly suggesting it. This is not false, it's completely true. 1936 Peel Commission. 1947 UN Partition. Post 1967 countless attempts to do land for peace deals. 1999 Camp David attempts, 2000 Taba. 2008 negotiations between Abbas and Olmert. If not a 2 state solution, what exactly are you advocating?

If someone stole your food, and then offered to give you crumbs as a peace deal, would you accept it? You can quantify the number of peace deals as much as you want. But when you don't present the facts and context behind it, you're being purposely deceptive.

Yes, but within Eastern Europe acceptance of Jews is generally higher than acceptance of Muslims, based on polling. Many non-Israeli Jews view Israel's actions as abhorent, particularly younger Jews. Being associated with Israel over the last few years must be a very uncomfortable place to be.

> Many non-Israeli Jews view Israel's actions as abhorent, particularly younger Jews. And this comes of your own polling? As a non-Israeli Jew, I've seen quite the opposite. They closed ranks in the face of an external threat, especially the younger ones. Ignore Hollywood and Hannah Einbinders of the world - that is not the reality.

I'm also a non-Israeli Jew, and here in the US, disapproval of Israel amongst Jews has risen, especially amongst the young.

According to an AP-NORC poll (https://apnorc.org/projects/among-american-jews-views-on-jew...):

> "Thirty-seven percent of Jews under age 45 say Israel has committed genocide in Gaza compared to 23% of those 45 or older".

The exact level of support varies based on age, secularity, and poll question phrasing, but across the board, US Jewish support for Israel is down.

Maybe not in your country, but definitely in the US.

If you genuinely mean this, at least somewhat naive. I believe Russia and Ukraine have had many peace talks, and Putin really wants peace. It's just those peaky Ukrainians not agreeing.

That’s a nonsense statement. Ukraine got invaded. Similarly to Im Israel being invaded on Oct 7, 2023.

What exactly is your solution to this conflict. Other than making snide comments.
