The only reason they don't let you charge it is because it's a recycled design of the MM1 which used disposable batteries. The Magic Keyboard and Trackpad which came out the exact same day both let you use it plugged in and charging, even wired! The Magic Mouse shell was just not designed with a cord in mind at all. I just replaced my 10(!) year old 15" MBP with a new 16" (M3, but I needed it at the time, and the difference between M3 and M4 is not enough to worry me).

It's almost exactly the same size and weight, I prefer the shape of the old MBP, but the new one is perfectly fine.

However, the old one had replacement SSD and was on its second replacement battery, not sure I can do that with the new one.

Apple should hire a couple hackers to create “end-of-life” firmware for their obsolete devices; give them new life as super-specialized devices. I have a 2011 iPad that I watch videos on in the Gym. It's not everything it used to be, but I can stream videos on Prime, though it had a tendency to crash on offline Netflix, and I watch downloaded videos in VLC.

So "picture frame" seem a little drastic to me.

I will never consider an iMac again because the first iMac I purchased in 2021 (with the M1 chip) had a screen problem immediately after the warranty expired.

Many users have reported this problem to Apple, but they have yet to acknowledge the problem.

I am very disappointed in Apple. They lie about sustainability

Not that this issue is not important, but I hope the EU has more pressing issues to work on.

Not sure how that's possible. With 80gbit you can only do 8K 90hz. 120hz would need the 120gbit of the 3 lane alt mode of thunderbolt 5.

Maybe some sort of compression?

That level of compression would kill latency and cause artifacts.

Zero people on the planet do this. The mouse port thing is like a canary in the coal mine, betraying the people who just like taking shots at Apple, but generally are very ill informed. I switched to using the trackpad full time, because the mouse randomly bricked itself unless I let it distract me about its state of charge and whether my only cable was at home or my office desk.

Hey, I have a similar setup (https://kayg.org/uses) where I use a LG C148 as my primary TV and monitor. I do all work on it, however I am unable to use tiling window managers as you recommend because I always struggle to see windows / text that is placed above my eye-level.

For that reason, I prefer to use manual window management solutions instead.

I am curious how do you deal with that problem, one big TV user to another? or do you not have that problem at all?
