They have no real models to base their predictions on. It's speculation at the level of "what happens if an immovable meets an unstoppable force". No rigor in it.

I'll be honest: I intend on ignoring any rules these geriatrics and monopolists come up with regarding what software I can write or execute on my own hardware. I'm sure most here feel the same way. They couldn't stop me from torrenting Ubuntu distributions, or encrypting messages to my bank's web server, and they're damn sure not going to stand in the way of my paperclip collection.

I don’t think you really disagree with GP? I think the argument is we peaked on “throw GPUs at it”?

We have all kinds of advancements to make training cheaper, models computationally cheaper, smaller, etc.

Once that happens/happened, it benefits OAI to throw up walls via legislation.

This, absolutely this. I am really concerned about his motives in this case. AI has massive potential to improve the world. I find it highly suspicious that an exec at one of the lead companies in AI right now wants to lock it up. (Ever read the intro to Max Tegmarks book?)

How do you even end up enforcing licensing here? It's only a matter of time before something as capable as GPT-4 works on a cell phone.

Not necessarily “on” a mobile device. It would be data driven with the help of 10g. Mobile makers will not allow that kind of power on our hands. =p and ofc, it will be subscription driven like GPT plus haha

Yes, this is the first-to-market leaders wanting to raise the barriers to entry to lock out competition.

Sam is a snake. The goal is to fuck everyone else. He is scared that someone will beat his tech and the hype is gone. Which is going to happen. Matter of months.

Agreed. I used to have a diet eating the rich, but after I found out about the greenhouse gas emissions from needed to produce just one free-range rich person, I've switched to ramen. /s
