@dang after things calm down I'd love to see some stats on whether this was the fastest upvoted story ever. Feels like it's breaking some records, along with the server.

I think the Jack Dorsey twitter step down story was more bonkers, came at a time when stock markets were just about to open, but @dang can compare the two events playing out on HN better.

Ron Conway:

>What happened at OpenAI today is a Board coup that we have not seen the likes of since 1985 when the then-Apple board pushed out Steve Jobs. It is shocking; it is irresponsible; and it does not do right by Sam & Greg or all the builders in OpenAI.

1723 comments are a lot to get through. I just made a SmartChat of them for anyone who wants to ask for a summary. Anyone can chat with it here: https://go.storytell.ai/sam-altman-hn-comments-smartchat I just tried "Write a summary of the content, followed by a list in bullet format of the most interesting points. Bold the bullet points, followed by a 100-character summary of each." Here's the output: https://s.drod.…

Thats the only fir…

Who owns the equity and who has dedicated seats on the board? Altman can easily just boot the board if he gets majority of the equity to back him.
