What do you suggest for someone leaning on an EdgeRouter Lite (with EdgeOS v1.10.11, staying far away from v2.x) and a Unifi UAP-AC-PRO access point? The router will probably reliably carry me until saturating 1Gbps becomes a daily occurrence and the access point will be retired when WiFi 6E comes around (assuming Ubiquiti's WiFi 6E access points aren't required to connect to the cloud.)

Yes, roaming by sharing SSID and passcode is a world of pain. 802.11r solves all those pains, I've been using it on OpenWRT for months without a glitch.
Yes, it's why I use 802.11r. It works with most devices, although the one which does not support it makes me laugh. Nintendo Switch will not switch from one AP to another. It holds on, tooth and nail, to whichever BSSID it used when it first connected. My kids have to go into settings, reconnect, and move on.
i think it did support roaming in the past and they disabled it in an OS update.

Aruba doesn't require a cloud controller, that's just the "Instant On" version.
