Also, the framing of "winning the cultural debate" is telling. Typically this refers to what will happen, not what should happen. I.e. it's basically just saying, "I think what will happen is what I want to happen", not an actual argument for why you want it. It's a red flag that you are arguing from a tribalistic position (or "religious", you could say).

I have no idea of this author, nor care if she uses AI to research topics, but fact checking? Do people use AI for that?

What? So this whole thing is blown out of proportion? If she didn’t use LLMs to write the literal sentences then what’s the issue?
There’s a subset of the anti-AI crowd that treats any involvement of AI anywhere in the chain as tainting the work.
The author said that she used AI for research which I find reasonable. I just ordered two of her books House of Day, House of Night and Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead .
