#82That's great, but I wonder whether SE Asian people are any better at telling e.g. what European country someone is from, or what African country etc. It's a bit shit but we all look the same if you look from far enough away. Like, I'm Greek but I have fair hair, skin and eyes despite most people in the UK expecting me to be "olive skinned" and I have friends who could easily pass for Swedish, or, conversely, Libyan or Pakistani. You just can't tell.
E.g. one of the Mongol invaders from Medieval Total War II had a soundbite that said "You all look the same to me!". I guess we all do.

Very early, sure. But the later common speeds that most people experienced were between 14 and 56kbps.
Preloading was definitely possible even with just image tag ordering.

#8615/18 on food. Been to and eaten at all three countries. It was mostly instinct TBH. I’m not sure I can point out exactly what characteristics make a particular picture of food Korean/Chinese/Japanese.
That said I really love food. I cook all 3 types often and go out to eat all 3 types (and even regional variants) quite frequently.

I wasn't working in web dev in the early 00s, but I had done some informally. I just don't think preloading was a thing.
It's been a long time, but I'm pretty sure AJAX does not predate this website, SPAs were impossible, etc. I suppose you might do something with IFRAMEs, but you likely wouldn't be able to fetch those /after/ the main page. Preloading would be simul-loading and lag the hell out of your main window.
The way to instruct a browser to load back then was to wait for the user to actually click to fetch, and that would navigate away from the current page.

#88The thing is the asians are dressed / made up in a confusing way. Koreans don't on the street don't typically look like that, whereas say a Japanese person might.
It would be a better test if it were from the collarbone-up, no clothes or makeup.
