You said it yourself - he was the only republican senator who voted for impeachment. When he voted against the party - you say he had no effect on his party. When he votes with the party - you say he has fallen in line. What exactly is he supposed to do? No one person has the power to change the party. I just appreciate someone, an individual, doing a good thing when they do it. This post is a good thing. The least I…

What is he supposed to do? I don't know - I agree it's a hard problem, but Romney has clearly chosen his tribe, though he's had an on-again-off-again relationship with the chief of that tribe. If anyone could run as an independent in Utah, it would be him, but do you think Romney would do such a thing? Men like Romney tear at the social fabric of America for financial gain, that's what he and his party are dedicated…

I guess im not that cynical but not as well informed either, so maybe you're right. I just don't get it - after someone has say $20M, what is the point of more? How do you even spend it? He must have got well beyond that from Bain Capital before even entering politics.

But yeah, that is scary.

WTF? Every country failing to act on an impending crisis is not good news, it's worse. Nature does not dole out milder climates to countries which pollute less either. We're all in the same boat.

Are you assuming the phrase "good company" is suggesting there's something praiseworthy about such a situation? It's just a figure of speech...

Yeah, that is how I read it. Maybe not praiseworthy but at least as a sort of "well everybody does it so it must be ok" moral stance. Whereas climate change is an objective claim about nature as opposed to a moral imperative.

Cambridge specifically defines it as "to have the same problem as many other people", whereas US dictionaries tend to go with definitions suggesting the other people are "respected" or noteworthy, so perhaps it's a dialectical difference (I'm accustomed to both interpretations but assumed the former in this case).

> Would you have claimed humans have coped "fine" with covid? I hear you. Are you still wearing a mask to protect other people? COVID is still out there. We have to protect people from COVID so please wear a mask and only go outside if necessary. This is still a pandemic.

Yes, as circumstances dictate, despite it causing my glasses to fog up, which is not a minor inconvenience. What's your point though?

Youre saving lives. Don't ever stop, as long as as COVID exists. Thank you for continuing to wear your mask.
