I'd honestly argue the opposite. Staying with an abusive partner is not likely to resolve the abuse, no matter how much you think so. Ghostty and others leaving might be the only way that active users could actively and visibly signal a need for change.
I think OP is basically applying "vote with your wallet" strategy and/or some kind of "action speaks louder than words". As I understood from the article, they have been vocal about trying to change things, but they are shouting into the ether since nothing has changed and in fact only getting worse.
Vote with your wallet, or, if you're not paying anything, your feet.

I was expecting something more pragmatic than 'lean into AI even harder' to be honest. GitHub needs to slow down with the AI shit and spend manpower fixing what's broken. Actions is a complete fucking disaster. Also I have no idea what Pierre is but their website is horrible.
Being pragmatic means admitting AI is unstoppable whether you like it or not. Stopping copilot BS doesn't conflict with that
AI should not even be part of this discussion, it’s frankly irrelevant. None of the complaints Mitchell or anyone else has would be fixed by deleting Copilot or adding new agentic features. Deliver a stable and secure development platform first, then do AI stuff.

The problem is just, you don't pay GitHub for their service, you pay Microsoft for a service called GitHub, and Microsoft will put your money in their "earnings" basket and do whatever they want with it. Not sure if the amount of money Microsoft gets from GitHub subscriptions directly affects how much "love" the GitHub service gets.

#798the issue is where to go? codeberg, self-hosted forgejo, gitlab, still-beta sourcehut, tangled? github was “the git community” and now it’s fracturing—you need accounts everywhere, you can’t easily discover neat projects i like tangled if only because it’s built on atproto which emphasizes ownership and transferability of identity: something that would make the move off github so much easier
Self-hosted Gitlab is great. A lot of the US government uses this via bigbang if familiar. Designing things with an "airgap" in mind and control of your services is paramount in today's AI rush of slop.
