Yes, average European VAT is 21%, which is built into the price. Unlike American sales tax which is added at the register. So to fairly compare prices by exchange rate you always need to discount the European price to subtract its VAT first.

Because then you're simply comparing the price without tax in both places, the money Apple actually receives.

Is it tariffs or something? Everything in Canada is usually 10-25% more expensive than the US, besides stuff covered under NAFTA. The EU also has strong consumer protection regulations, such as a minimum 2 year warranty, that are factored into the price. Also, prices from Apple resellers can be lower than what you get from Apple themselves, usually similar to Apple with an education discount.

My dad got a Chromebook and I was shocked at how shit the accessibility features were, considering their core markets seem to be kids and old people.

I assume Windows is doing better on that front than ChromeOS. MacOS sure as hell is.

I bought a MacBook Pro M1 about one and a half years ago, and a week ago I bought a Linux Ryzen laptop, after giving up hope of doing my x86 Linux development on the MacBook. I’ve followed every guide I could find on emulating x86 Linux on my MacBook M1 without success.

Also, I bought the MacBook with 32GB RAM, and later found out I needed 64GB, and I wasn’t willing to pay the extra price of selling my old MacBook to buy a new one with twice the RAM.

I have been using Macs for work since around 2014, and for me it was a combination of missing x86 Linux emulation, a high price, and lack of flexibility (e.g. adding more RAM or disk space) that made be stop using Macs for work.
