Downloading and executing other people's compiled software is how things worked for many decades. It's only been in recent years that people have come to believe that Google/Microsoft/Apple should be the final authorities on which executables are safe to run.

Yep, and the comment section predictably attracts the people who just complain they want something but will do nothing about it, not even complain to the right place (like their favorite proprietary SW/HW vendor, to improve their Linux support).

I have a Mac laptop, a Linux workstation, and a Windows workstation for different purposes and I use them all. I agree. It does ... for them Linux is a very good substitute for their needs. OTOH, for certain specialties, software available for Linux is NOT the best. 2012 was the Linux year for me ... but while FOSS is OK, sometimes a $200 app is a far superior choice for non-technical people. (Musicians for example.)

Funny, I disagree. I think copilot truly sucks compared to the other options. But you can uninstall copilot, so I don’t see why it bothers people at all.
