There are confirming 6,000 and 146 under 18 according to your links. Which doesn't suggest families it suggests teens probably mostly teen boys. Again you are blindly using links without reading them or using critical thinking.

The regime says "the total number of fatalities was 3,117". They then state "A government statement issued in late January indicated that over 600 of the deceased were rioters and terrorists, with the remainder being civilians and security forces." That leaves quite a few civilians murdered by the Iranian regime. 2,517. Murdered. Non-CIA. Non-rioters. Non-terrorists. Civilians. Murdered. By their own government. Here…

Remember this link you gave:

https://www.en-hrana.org/day-thirty-six-of-the-protests-gove...

That's where we find the 146 out of 6,000. If you don't agree with those numbers you shouldn't be using that link to state the case that many families were killed.

Now you start including random stats.. did you know there were 6 times more people arrested. BBC says x.. trying to change the goalposts by not even mentioning families killed which was the entire discussion. You got fooled by AI so did the media. Great writeup how they did it. No amount of changing goalposts will change that fact. How many fewer mother's day cards were sent or how many potholes Iran has now isn't going to change you got fooled by AI. We were see more of this in the future as AI bots will double down like you did when presented with facts.

This is factually incorrect. Blockade is not a synonym of embargo. Blockade is generally an act of war, and embargo is not. Dealing with Cuba is certainly a huge PITA for the majority of trading actors because of potential blacklisting in the US, but waters around Cuba are as open as they can be, and you can check marine traffic to make sure that ships arrive to Cuban ports. Even from the US itself (cause there are e…

Sorry, english is not my first language. I did not realize there was a strong difference between blockade and embargo. Thanks for the correction. Though to be fair, there is currently an actual oil blockade run by the USA. And the previous embargo imposed sanctions on international entities dealing with Cuba, so it was not exactly 100% open even though technically you could sail there.

I really appreciate politeness of the answer!

E.g. about 2 weeks ago Russian tanker arrived to port Matanzas, Cuba (again this is searchable data). It didn't fight it's way though American cordons, it just arrived. Embargo can hit a trader's wallet hard, but it's still not a blockade.

The problem with this attitude is that no-one other than jingoistic Americans will want to support your country if you behave like that. There’s no difference between you and Russia then.

I don’t think this is true. You just need to work with countries whose values and incentives align with your own. Luckily American values line up very nicely with most western countries. I do agree that ignoring the suffering you cause other people is pretty immoral, I just think most people tend to be kind of ok with that, especially in out of sight out of mind situations. Most people don’t mind if their enemies suf…

You're living in the past. There's a reason that European countries are rushing to increase their technology independence from the US.

The countries whose "values and incentives" align with the current US administration are countries like Russia, China, and a number of countries in the Middle East. Orban's Hungary was another but that's behind us now.

Ultimately Israel started this war. Is it a useful distraction from Epstein, sure, but that’s clearly not the primary reason for this war.

Here's a video of Trump in 2015 talking about how he would make sure Iran never got a bomb [1]. Crazy that the Israelis we're already planning it then. [1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIDNonMDSo8

The Stuxnet cyberattack on Iran's nuclear capability was a joint US-Israeli operation in 2010. This has been going on for a long time.

But that doesn't mean that the timing of the current war, and the choice to start it, wasn't due to Trump's desire for a distraction.

You seem to have missed the reference to Madman Theory above, interpreting it as a literal commentary on someone's / some group's sanity. Whether or not actual mental deficiency is involved here is irrelevant; the strategy is the same whether performed intentionally or otherwise. Unfortunately, its track record is dismal in both cases.

Yes I interpreted the parent as literally suggesting the US is indeed irrational not simply trying to appear as irrational to gain leverage. I think this perception is very common. Is Trump really trying to appear to the Iranians as being irrational here as a negotiation strategy? Is he saying "don't mess with me I'm crazy"? I would counter that he is aggressive and rational. He is saying I am willing to use force an…

You're still missing the point; the strategy only works if no one is sure it's a strategy.

It also doesn't work very well then either.

FWIW, I'm not arguing for either. I think it's pretty obvious this is 100% market manipulation and consequences be damned. In that light, this approach is working very well, just not towards an end that benefits most of us.

From the same link: "A total of 11,280 cases remain under review.". Again, these numbers are not exhaustive, the numbers from the regime are the 100% verified numbers from the regime so that we don't get lost in 'but we can't trust the news/the human rights orgs/it's all AI/you were tricked'. That the government definitively murdered over 100 children (with the final total potentially being more) is shocking and confirmed by Iran. Your joke that only over a 100 families won't receive mothers day cards seems really poor taste and proves your statement it was only CIA agents with machine guns false. 100 families without children because the government murdered them in a very short timeframe is horrific.

You keep ignoring 2,517 civilians murdered. For a fact according to the Iranian regime murdered. 2,517 confirmed civilians according to Iran. Not confirmed by AI. Confirmed by the Iranian government.

I did not try to change the goal posts at all. I simply highlighted we are talking about a small subset when we talk about the confirmed information. And the fact (according to the Iranian regime) is it was not just men with guns gunned down but at a minimum, according to the Iranian regime itself, 2,517 civilians murdered.

This subset gallery contains "“children of this soil” of Iran, according to Iranian officials, that the Iranian government (not AI) listed as having murdered.

https://www.bbc.com/persian/resources/idt-c005edd8-7204-4c74...

You seem to want to debate away the official government murder toll and use AI as some sort of shield. I conceded to you that for further discussion we will limits totals to Iranian regime confirmed numbers so as to remove any doubt, question, prevent the THOUSANDS of definitively proven lives taken get lost in a pointless she said she said 'it's AI' and simply use the official state totals.

> They were entirely comprised pre-existing publicly released information. This is not true. This is in fact straightforwardly false.

You and the parent may be talking about two different events. There was an initial release of "binders" to known rightwing influencers in a choreographed photo event. It was a predominantly bullshit release that pissed off the conspiratorial wing of MAGA and the Epstein Republicans (Massie et al). This happened in early 2025. The blowback from this event resulted in Congress passing the Epstein Transparency Act in No…

Most have not been released and they didn’t even pay lip service to the ‘unredacted’ requirement.

The truth will come out eventually. When the US finally realizes how cringe their awful leader is. Like when you finally realize how your friends thought about your partner after the breakup.

That reason is Trump, an unpredictable leader who is backing away from traditional western values. European countries had no issue backing the US up in Iraq and Afghanistan(until our folly was abundantly clear at least). If the future of the US is trump style leadership you’re right, if the future is a return to pre Trump then I don’t think the US will have any issue working with western countries.
