hot dogs and burritos are sandwiches right?

A burrito is a calzone in the cube rule system, but I'd rather rename that class to burrito.

Agreed. Though oddly that does qualify a corn dog as a burrito on a stick

Why are VCs not backing more projects like this?

That's a company blog I would actually follow. I want to read a 4 page post about series-c funding to capture even more rotating sandwiches. I want to read about their hiring practices and how they use scrum to organize their sandwich projects.

You could start here: https://techcrunch.com/2014/07/18/yo-raises-1-5m-in-funding-...

Yet even their "Anarchist" (lower right) square has a rectangular item of food, with a starchy, finger-friendly exterior around a less starchy & finger-friendly interior. Vs. a chart with chocolate-covered cherries, ceiling tiles, and such...

Agreed. One point of contention I've seen before is the question of whether a piece of fried chicken with breading is a sandwich. Personally I argue that it is not, because the batter is cooked for the first time on the chicken itself. The starchy finger-friendly exterior should be fully edible before the construction of a sandwich. You could argue, however, that a piece of fried chicken with breading is technically…

I mean, it really depends on the breading, though. Panko, for example, could be already cooked before breading the chicken.

So, I guess a flour breaded fried chicken could be a ravioli whereas a panko breaded fried chicken could be a sandwich.

Sir, I come to make a complain about no milanesa sandwich. I hope this issue will be fixed soon.

Torta Milanesa here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10d92PBihj-yx1D8QPo-Fcp1UrzQ... Folder with all my sandwich gifs here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10d92PBihj-yx1D8QPo-Fcp1UrzQ... Thanks to everyone who said nice things about my sandwiches!

Thank you for sharing your sandwiches! Both of the links in your posts are for the milanesa, though

Are these done with NeRFs? Feels like they are but could just be lots of photos around the objects. Curious if anyone knows.

Not sure but I think they’re just videos of the sandwiches rotating. Here’s a pic of the lightbox with the rotating platform: https://nitter.net/NotABigJerk/status/1628493044113711105

I'm not sure if this is going to forestall or foment heated discussion about what is or isn't a sandwich, but it's certainly an attempt to codify what constitutes sandwichness: https://cuberule.com/

Sandwiches are but one part of the equation! For full context see the taxonomic definition of Sandwich (domain Catino, kingdom Cincta).

Please keep political flamethrowing off HN. (Although I agree)

A sandwich is not an ontological category and should be eradicated.

Agreed, please send me all of the hotdogs for safe disposal. Also bratwursts, especially bratwursts

Lauren, as a long-time follower I was excited to see this hit the front page of Hacker News. Since you’re here could you share some technical details about how this works? What kind of hardware/software stack are you using? Are you using NeRFs(?)?

I subscribe to the fringe "four foods theory":

1) Substance - Indivisible, elemental food. Example: Vanilla ice cream, no toppings

2) Pizza - Monobreadular, arranged. Example: Nigiri sushi

3) Sandwich - Multibreadular, arranged. Example: Big Mac

4) Salad - Separable, not arranged. Example: Salad with croutons
