They may honestly not have the money/resources to afford you. Most startups and new businesses fail. Part of that is a lack of funding and a lack of information/knowledge about the specifics of the markets they are working in. They may not know that they are looking for a Ferrari or what the market for Ferraris looks like.
If I start a business that sells Ferraris for 20k, then complain how I cant buy them cheap enough wholesale, there isn't a shortage.
